How to find an OmniPod NDC and identify the correct pod

Use the full NDC, system name, pack count, CGM compatibility wording, and expiration date to select the correct OmniPod product.

Direct answer: Look on the sealed OmniPod box near the barcode and expiration date for a number labeled NDC. Copy the full hyphenated number. Then confirm whether the front says OmniPod 5, OmniPod DASH, or another system, and record the number of pods in the package.

Why the entire NDC matters: different OmniPod systems, package sizes, distribution channels, and CGM-compatible variants can use different package identifiers. The brand name alone is not enough.

Step-by-step identification

  1. Read the full system name on the front panel.
  2. Find the NDC next to the barcode.
  3. Record the sealed package count.
  4. Read all CGM compatibility wording.
  5. Record expiration and lot.
  6. Note DME, pharmacy, starter kit, or intro kit wording.

OmniPod 5 CGM compatibility can affect the package

Current OmniPod materials describe compatibility with Dexcom G7 systems and selected FreeStyle Libre Plus sensors. Pods intended for FreeStyle Libre integration can have their own product identifiers, while OmniPod materials state that newer Dexcom G7/G6-compatible Pods may retain the existing NDC in certain channels. Because compatibility and packaging can change, use the exact wording and NDC printed on your own box rather than selecting based on an online photo.

OmniPod 5 versus DASH

OmniPod 5 and OmniPod DASH are different systems. A DASH box should never be submitted as OmniPod 5. Read both the large product name and the smaller package description. Quote intro kits, controllers, and pod-only packages separately.

Pack count matters

An NDC may identify a five-pod package, ten-pod configuration, intro kit, or another distribution package. Count sealed boxes first and then verify the pod count printed on each box. Do not count loose pods from an opened carton as a factory-sealed package.

Never remove an outer carton to make shipping easier. The original sealed package and identifier panel are needed for verification.

Official references

OmniPod’s current prescribing and compatibility pages list different NDC/NRC information for available pod configurations and explain which CGM systems are supported. FDA describes an NDC as a three-segment identifier for a labeler, product, and trade package size.
