Accepted diabetic supplies: what we buy and what we cannot accept

A practical eligibility guide for Dexcom, FreeStyle Libre, OmniPod, test strips, readers, transmitters, and other unopened supplies.

Direct answer: TestStrip Buyback USA primarily reviews factory-sealed, unexpired Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring supplies, FreeStyle Libre sensors and eligible readers, OmniPod pods, and selected diabetic test strips. Eligibility depends on the exact model, REF or NDC, expiration date, distribution label, seal condition, and current demand.

Fastest way to confirm eligibility: submit the exact product name, quantity, expiration date, and REF/NDC from the box. A photo of every side of the packaging can help prevent model or label mistakes.

Dexcom products we commonly review

Dexcom products can look similar while carrying different REF numbers and values. The product name alone is not always enough. For example, Dexcom G7 15-Day sensors may have different REF variants, and G6 sensors are commonly sold in retail 3-packs. We use the identifier printed on the original box to match the correct pricing tier.

See the Dexcom pricing guide and REF/NDC identification guide before submitting.

FreeStyle Libre products we commonly review

Libre 3 Plus, Libre 3, Libre 2 Plus, Libre 2, and Libre 14-Day are separate products. A seller should not select the closest-looking option. “NFR,” sample, professional-use, or institutional markings can change or eliminate eligibility, even when the sensor itself appears identical to a retail unit.

Use our FreeStyle Libre selling guide for model-specific details.

OmniPod products we commonly review

OmniPod packages should be identified by the exact NDC and pod count. OmniPod 5 packages may be labeled for different CGM integrations or distribution channels. DASH is a different system from OmniPod 5, and entering the wrong system can produce an inaccurate estimate.

See the OmniPod eligibility and pricing page.

General eligibility requirements

  1. Factory sealed: the manufacturer seal must be intact. Shrink wrap added later does not replace an original seal.
  2. Original packaging: loose sensors, pods, strips, applicators, or supplies removed from the retail box are not accepted.
  3. Readable identifiers: REF, NDC, lot, expiration, barcode, and distribution wording must remain visible.
  4. Enough dating: products generally need meaningful time remaining before expiration. Higher offers usually require longer dating.
  5. Good box condition: no water damage, contamination, severe crushing, torn labels, or writing that obscures identifiers.
  6. Lawful ownership: sellers must have the right to transfer the items and must not submit products restricted by payer, program, or distribution terms.

Items we do not accept

Do not ship these items: insulin or other medication, opened boxes, loose sharps, used devices, expired products, recalled products, temperature-sensitive drugs, products with removed identifiers, or supplies labeled as samples, institutional use, Medicare/Medicaid, or “not for resale.”

We also may decline a product that is normally accepted when demand changes, a model has been discontinued, the remaining expiration is too short, or the package variant cannot be resold through an eligible channel.

Why an item can be accepted but priced differently

Two boxes with the same brand may receive different estimates because one has longer dating, a more desirable REF/NDC, better packaging, or a retail distribution label. Our pricing methodology explains these factors in detail.
