There are dozens of companies buying diabetic supplies by mail, and the differences between them matter a lot. Some pay within 24 hours via Zelle. Others mail a check that takes 10 days and might not clear. Here's how to evaluate them.

The factors that actually matter

1. Payment speed and method

This is the biggest differentiator in the market. The established buyers default to checks — and checks take 5–10 business days to arrive and can bounce. The better buyers offer same-day or next-day digital payment via Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or PayPal once your supplies are received and inspected.

If payment method isn't clearly stated on a buyer's website, ask before you ship. "We'll pay you quickly" is not the same as "we pay same-day via Zelle."

2. Price transparency before you ship

A legitimate buyer gives you a firm offer before you commit to shipping. The offer should specify the amount per box or per item, what it's contingent on (condition, expiration), and what happens if something doesn't meet their requirements.

Buyers who say "ship us everything and we'll make an offer after inspection" are structurally set up to lowball you after you've already committed. Walk away from any buyer who won't give a quote upfront.

3. Free prepaid shipping

Every reputable buyer provides a free prepaid shipping label — either USPS Priority Mail or UPS. You should not pay to ship your supplies to a buyer. If a buyer asks you to pay for shipping or to use your own postage, that's a red flag.

4. What they do with supplies that don't qualify

Ask explicitly: if a box fails inspection (damaged, different from what was described), do you return it or discard it? A good buyer communicates clearly and either ships it back at their cost or gives you the option. A bad buyer quietly discards non-qualifying supplies without telling you.

5. Product range

Some buyers only want test strips. Others buy CGM sensors, pump supplies, lancets, and more. If you have a mix of supply types, a buyer with a broader range means fewer transactions and higher total payout.

• Offers that seem dramatically higher than market — they often get revised down post-inspection
